The final score was 4 tries to Thanet and 3 tries to D&B, which was disappointing as D&B had two further visits over the try line disallowed after the ball was held up and ran into touch respectively. It was a great team effort though for our first game of the season and when Thanet come to Deal in three weeks time we plan to rectify the results!
With only three training sessions before this first game the teams drills and communications were impressive under the captaincy of Ollie White who was supported by Ben Heaver leading the pack, Luke Baalham leading the defence and Oliver Martin leading the attack.
In the first half D&B maintained the majority of possession with good ball handling skills and game awareness. However Thanet were able to score their tries later in the game when our rucking and getting players to the breakdown proved to be our main weaknesses.
Try scorers were:
Oliver Martin - 2
Henry Wood - 1
Man of the Match - Luke Baalham
