Despite the final scoreline, the Lions did not always have things their own way, conceding two early tries due to some inaccurate passing and kicking .

Fred Wheadon, marking his return to the Club from University was outstanding in all areas , scoring four tries, including one in which he ran the length of the pitch.

Skipper Gary Dixon scored his now customary try, which was a testament to his dogged work-rate and fitness .
Other try scorers included Jake Ward who finally is gaining belief in his speed and ability , with a pulsating finish down the right touch-line .
The final try came from Jason Clarke, who made his first ever start at prop-forward .

Again , there were some solid performances from a team made -up of youth and experience and the way in which the young players have been given the experience of the Senior game is encouraging for the future .
