With a team suffering several changes in key positions, playing the 3rd placed team in the league was going to be a tough call for the Lions

But their recent run of form has given them lots of confidence & they showed it in their display at home on Saturday. Deal & Betteshanger teams are notorious for taking time to get into any game but the 2’s again showed their determination & within minutes they were a score up with a try by Joseph Michael after some great interplay between backs & forwards. 5 minutes later another score this time by John Stabler 12-0, converted by Stuart Adcock.
Judds slowly began to wake up & scored an unconverted try 5 minutes before halftime, 12-5. This was nullified, as from the re-start the Lions came right back at them to score another try by John Stabler, 17-5 at half time. One change was made with Matt Douglas coming on for Jamie Hubbard, (who later replaced Gary Neary ).
Juddians now seemed a different team & were starting to show why they are one of the top teams in the league. A fine move in their backs stretched the Lions, their quick centre splitting the defence to score under the posts, 17-12. The Lions weathered the storm & managed to work the ball out wide for Sam Hursey in support to dive over, converted by Jason Clarke, 24-12.
With 5 minutes left the Lions sealed the game with a great driving scrum near the Juddians posts, with No.8 John Stabler completing his hat-trick & Steve Belham adding the well taken conversion, 31-12. There was just time for Juddians to grab a conciliation try through their elusive right winger, final score 31-17.
A good performance from the Lions who now must be seen to be dark horses in this league after pulling of some excellent performances against tough opposition. Next week they travel to Snowdon for what is always a difficult encounter with their 1st team.
Man of the match; Nick Blown , For his great work in the front row & good support around the pitch
