On a very cold day, with a strong cross-wind, the game was well-contested and quite even .
The Referee penalised the Lions front-row, which in fact was the result of the Crowborough loose binding in the front-row, and the Home side went ahead with a penalty goal .
Crowborough used the wind to good effect to make ground and took the game into the Lions’ 25 .
Then a missed tackle at the back of a line-out allowed a tall Crowborough wing-forward to score a try , which was converted .
The Lions re-started with purpose and Hart made several attempts to break the defensive line but the Crowborough backs and their wing-forwards tackled well . Eventually, the Lions had a period of attacking play in the Home 25 metre area and a good blindside passing movement from Schofield and Michael to Robinson, who dummied to Thatcher outside him, resulted in a good try . Connor Moss converted .
As the result of a heavy tackle, Anthony Hart left the field and was replaced by Ben Ebden .
After Half-Time, by using the wind to advantage , the Lions pack produced a good drive from a line-out and scored a second try, which again was converted by a good kick from Moss.
The game proceeded with attacks from both sides but the Lions pack did well in the line-outs and on occasion produced some powerful scrums . Crowborough continued to defend well and several Lions’attacks were stopped .
It looked as though the Visitors would hold the lead and secure the victory until the fateful last line-out . Thus ended a game that should have been won by The Lions .
