. The Home side did not play as well as on the previous Saturday, with passes going to ground and stuttering attacks .
Beckenham got off to an early lead from a penalty, and then the Lions pack strove to gain an ascendancy . This was frustrated by poor binding in the Beckenham front row which resulted in penalties against the Lions as they tried to pressure the opposition scrum . There was a sustained series of scrums, with Beckenham pinned in their 22 metre area, but the deserved penalty for broken scrummaging was not awarded . However, eventually, the Lions drove to the line and Joseph Hinkins touched down for a try , which was converted by Connor Moss .
The game continued in much the same fashion, with the line-outs even, and the scrums being generally rather scrappy . Beckenham kicked another penalty and the teams turned-round at 7 – 6 to the Home side .
The Lions continued to defend well to stop the swift running of the Beckenham Half-backs and centres and gradually started to dominate the forward exchanges, getting better ball . Eventually the pressure told and a passing movement went wide on the left and Carl Thatcher went over for a good try .
Beckenham then pressured and their good kicker punished penalties and converted two . Thus the score was at 12 – 12 until the Lions again put the Visitors’ line under severe forward siege and Hinkins again went over for a try .
Thus on a difficult and very cold day The Lions overtook Beckenham in the League position
