The Lions performed much better than recently in the line-outs and rucked with purpose . The pack put the Home side under pressure but were kept out by some good defence close to the scrum and were just short of a score . However , the Medway Full-back, Ryan Redman, a Kent Under 21 player and a recruit from Tonbridge-Juddians, kicked some good penalties and generally played very well . Ollie Best, erstwhile of Deal & Betteshanger and also a Kent Under 21 player, managed to convert two drop goals which crossed the bar with little to spare , and so the score was racked-up in Medway’s favour .
The Lions backs moved the ball too slowly and with insufficient pace and were well-contained by the Medway defence . In the second half, the Lions forwards had the Home pack under severe pressure for a long period but again just failed to cross the line .
In response to another Medway try by their backs, Nathan Mitford went over for a try in the corner after a strong run , but it was too late .
Another disappointing loss and the Lions look forward to some injured players returning to the fray .
