Dave Wiggins says the important thing is not to panic after a 10th defeat of the season kept Deal & Betteshanger in the bottom three of London 2 South East.

The head coach admitted his side were completely outplayed at Old Alleynians but he believes they have enough quality in their squad not to get dragged into a relegation
fight.
He said: “We’ve got to be realistic, our prime aim now is to stay where we are for next season – that’s way off the original intention but what we can’t do is feel sorry for ourselves.
“I thought we’d be knocking on the door this year but I’m not interested in could have, would have, should have.
“We are where we are and it’s up to us to do something about it.
“The clear message is that we must not panic. If we panic and start jumping up and down, then that’s the road to disaster.”
Wiggins says injuries have seriously hampered his plans this season and the Lions were again minus several regulars at Alleynians, who opened up a 21-0 half-time lead courtesy of three penalties and two tries, one of which was converted.
A second converted try stretched the home lead to 28 before Lions rallied with Adam Michael scoring two tries.
The visitors were also awarded a penalty try, from a scrum, with Matt Halpin kicking two conversions to complete their tally.
Old Alleynians went on to add a penalty and two more tries, both converted, with the result moving them seven points clear of their opponents.
Wiggins said: “The boys did their best but I’ve no complaints, they completely outplayed us. They ran straight and hard and we weren’t equal to it.”
Crowborough (five points) and Bromley (16) occupy the bottom two places, with Deal (21) two behind Heathfield & Waldron, who lost 48-20 away at Old Colfeians.
Lions have a weekend off before hosting second-placed Colfeians on January 28.
