Canterbury Mini Festival 2023

16th April 2023

CANTERBURY RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB

Dear Parent,

Welcome to Canterbury Rugby Club. We are very much looking forward to hosting you at the East Kent Festival on 16th April 2023.

Here are all the details that you need to know:

Timings:
• 08:45am - Gates open
• 09:15am – 09:40am – Registration - Clubhouse
• 09:30am – Referee and Managers briefing- marquee (just down from the clubhouse)
• 10.00am – First games begin
• 01:00pm – Approximated finish- age group dependant, will be in the info booklet on the day.

Parking:
Unfortunately, our Club cannot handle so many cars so parking will be in the field opposite the club in Nackington Road; for those that have been previously this is the usual field a short walk from the club. Postcode is:
Canterbury Rugby Club, CT4 7AZ

Parking marshals will be on hand to direct you. Please respect the parking team who will be doing their best to get a lot of cars into the ground. We will be charging £2.50 per adult, rather than per car this year to help the flow of cars into the carpark. Cash will be best but we will have card machines available. PLEASE DO NOT PARK at the Simon Langton School or on the verges in and around the entrance to the Club.

Coaches may drop gazebos and kit at the main club – names must be provided before Friday to prevent abuse of this – via email to youthchairman@cantrugby.co.uk

Registration:
All players must be registered including the RFU number and date of birth.
On arrival all registered, fully paid, teams will receive a pack, containing medals and a bin bag. The coaches briefing will then cover any other information required.

Match Schedules
These will be distributed as soon as it is finalised by email. Schedules will of course be available on the day.

Pitches:
Pitches are grouped in age-groups. Pitches are marked out on top of our regular pitches. It would be hugely appreciated if parents didn’t stand on any part of the pitch as in the wet weather this can cause significant damage. Parents can watch from the original pitch try and touch lines please.

Food and Drink:
Food and drink will be available from the Club House throughout the morning.

Photography:
Photographs are permitted within the RFU guidelines.
DE Photo will be taking photos throughout, available for purchase.

Clothing:
Please ensure that your child arrives with the correct kit and equipment. Mouth guards are essential for U9 upward. U7 and U8 will play touch. Plenty of warm clothing is advisory. Hoping for better weather than the torrential downpour in November!

Conduct:
This is a fun mini festival. As such we are keen to promote and enrich the RFU Core Values in the players. It would be appreciated if could encourage these values in your support on the day. The values are:

Teamwork
Teamwork is essential to our sport. We welcome all new team members and include all because working as a team enriches our lives. We play selflessly: working for the team, not for ourselves alone, both on and off the field. We take pride in our team, rely on one another and understand that each player has a part to play. We speak out if our team or sport is threatened by inappropriate words or actions.

Respect
Mutual respect forms the basis of our sport. We hold in high esteem our sport, its values and traditions and earn the respect of others in the way we behave. We respect our match officials and accept their decisions. We respect opposition players and supporters. We value our coaches and those who run our clubs and treat clubhouses with consideration.

Enjoyment
Enjoyment is the reason we play and support rugby union. We encourage players to enjoy training and playing. We use our sport to adopt a healthy lifestyle and build life skills. We safeguard our young players and help them have fun. We enjoy being part of a team and part of the rugby family.

Discipline
Strong discipline underpins our sport. We ensure that our sport is one of controlled physical endeavor and that we are honest and fair. We obey the laws of the game which ensure an inclusive and exciting global sport. We support our disciplinary system, which protects our sport and upholds its values. We observe the sport's laws and regulations and report serious breaches.

Sportsmanship
Sportsmanship is the foundation upon which rugby union is built. We uphold the rugby tradition of camaraderie with teammates and opposition. We observe fair play both on and off the pitch and are generous in victory and dignified in defeat. We play to win but not at all costs and recognise both endeavor and achievement. We ensure that the wellbeing and development of individual players is central to all rugby activity.
