D&B U11 VS THANET WANDERERS 10TH DEC 2024

Our U11s hosted a large Thanet Squad this Sunday. After a joint warm up and some prep for contact work, both teams broke to get ready for a game. The referee briefed both teams and D&B kicked off first with a tremendous chase. Thanet fielded a strong looking, and physically much larger starting line-up, but they were no match for the young lions in the opening minutes and Stanley Preston ran the first one over soon after. We have been working our defence and line speed in training recently and throughout the game the young lions looked organised in attack and D. The obvious ball carriers of Thanet were completely shut down and their numerous attempts were thwarted perfectly by a strong and courageous deal line, there were many battles but time and time again the deal side won the break down and turned repeatedly turned ball over. Wanderers never gave up but could not stop 4 more scores being touched down by a clearly fired up home side. Thanet did manage to score just before the Whistle and the half ended 25-5. The second half started much the same as the first, and the dominate Deal display continued. Beau Robertson, Mason Clements-Mills teed up some great play upon receiving from the restart. Rod Deschamps made an absolutely incredible 30m chase to nullify a try scoring attempt just before the line. Stevie Watkins and Harry Marler made several great carries and were brutal in their defensive work. Stanley Preston yet again displayed his tenacity, attacking vision and hunger to score. Arthur Warner, Hary Waters and Kenzie Bentley-Campbell worked tirelessly on and off the ball, a genuine whole team performance where every player in the squad could get a mention, superbly commanded by Capt Arthur W, and VC Tommy L. 5 more tries from Deal & Bettes, and 1 late consolation for Thanet saw the game end 50-10.
