. Having defeated Medway in the 'Home' match at The Drill Field in which the Fly-Half John Sheehan broke his foot in the process of scoring a fine try, the 'Away' match with Sheehan still missing through injury, was to be a daunting prospect . The Lions had not played a match for a month, due to games being cancelled for unfit pitches, but Medway had played Sevenoaks just the previous week . So the Visitors were bound to be rusty and it showed .
Playing with a strong wind at their backs, the Lions took the game to the Home side and quickly went into the lead with a penalty from Connor Moss . Despite not using the wind enough to advantage for much of the first half, the forwards competed at the scrum and line-out and attacked the Medway line . Despite the failure of Ollie Schofield to ground the ball when over the goal line , the attacks continued and eventually Adam Michael went over for a try , which Moss converted .
Medway countered well and Ollie Best, formerly a Lions player, kicked a penalty for the Home side and at Half-time the score was 10 - 3 to the Visitors .
Facing the strong wind in the Second Half, the Lions contested the scrums and line-outs against strong opposition . Martin Robinson was injured and was replaced by Dan Best at Full-Back .
However, Ollie Best then punished the Lions by converting the penalties given for breakdown and off-side infringements and steadily overtook the deficit with five successful kicks .
The Lions continued to attack and were within the Medway line for a long period but were kept out by some stout defence . Eventually, Luke Armstrong burst through the defence and scored a good try, which was sadly not converted . So despite having scored two tries to nil but conceded to six penalties, the game was Drawn .
Next week the Team is away to Charlton Park .
