They arrived to high winds at Hove, so kicking was going to be difficult today. Hove dominated in the Lions' half for the majority of the first 40 minutes but Deal & Betteshanger put up a good fight not allowing the home side to break through their lines. The score remained 0-0 until the 33rd minute when Hove scored a penalty, which was quickly followed by a penalty to Deal & Betteshanger on the 37th minute, with Connor Moss kicking for goal, along with another penalty on the halftime whistle, which took the score 3-6 into half time.
The second half started with a dominating Deal & Betteshanger, with some fresh legs straight from his 9-week break, Matt Halpin returned to the side to score the first try of 2020 on the 3rd minute into the second half.
Hove quickly followed up with a try at 49 minutes, with the Lions' Callum Brayne scoring a try minutes later. Sam Hanley received a yellow card at 62 minutes but following his return to the field, Connor Moss kicked and scored a penalty in the last few minutes of the game. The score now 8-19 with 3 minutes to go. Hove didn't give up and continued with their battle until the dying moments with a late unconverted try scored on the 78th minute of the game. Final score 13-19 to the visitors.
