The first XV fielded a strong side for the local home Derby V Dover Sharks. This is always a hard fought match and was well supported by supporters from both clubs with an estimated 200+ spectators. The match was preceded by an excellent lunch superbly prepared by Steph and served to the diners by the youth section.

Dover came out guns blazing showing their ability to move the ball wide quickly. Despite this the lions defended stalwartly and early indications showed the Lions probably had the edge in the set piece.
Dover's tenacity paid off and after 13 minutes scored a breakaway try which was converted (0-7) The game continued to be an arm wrestle with both sides defending and attacking well until at29 minutes a Dover player was sent for 10 minutes rest. This was the turning point for the lions with a well worked move putting Ollie Best over the whitewash, which he converted try, which converted (7-7). A minute before the half the Lions infringed again resulting Dover getting the penalty. 7-10 at the half.
Clearly strong words of encouragement were said at half time as the Lions roared back with Luke Armstrong going under the posts having received a a lovely inside pass from Ollie Best. Ollie duly slotted the extras (14-10).
The Lions had brought on Jack Nye and Anthony Hart in the back row both of whom had a significant impact making inroads into the tiring Dover side. 10 minutes later Jack Nye went over for a try again converted by Ollie Best (21-10).
Dover came back in the 68th minute with an unconverted try (21-15). Dover then infringed again with Ollie Best slotting the 3 (24 -15). Dover with there tales up managed to cross the whitewash for a third time in the 72nd minute but failed to convert ( 24-20). The Lions kept going and were rewarded with another penalty kicked again by Ollie best in the last moments of the game final score 27-20. Man of the Match to ollie Best, who currently is the leading point scorer in the league. Whilst Luke Armstrong lies second in the league for tries scored. After two rounds. The Lions are lying 5th in the league
