Tense final 10 mins

The Colts took on OE's in their first league fixture of the season. OE's are a strong London side who beat the Colts on their last visit to the Drill Field.
The game got off to a worrying start with with OE's coming steaming out of the blocks fast , working the ball wide and getting an early score in the first minute. The conversion taking them to 0 -7 in the lead.
There then followed a tense 10 minutes of attrition with lots ok kicking and some huge tackles by both sides as they tried to get on top of the match.
The deadlock was then broken by Archie Grove who manged to weave through to score for the Colts after some excellent hands by the back line. Nathan Powell made the conversion taking the score to 7-7.
One minute later Luca Twyman wriggled through OE's defence to score after chasing down a clearance kick. Again Nathan Powell scored the conversion taking the score to 14-7
Again a period of attrition developed, with OE's loosing there no2 to a knee injury. With no front row replacement available, the team agreed to go to uncontested scrums. Both sides put together some nice pieces of rugby, but unable to capitalize.
The final score the of first half went to Archie Seward , who in his final game for the Colts, topped off a crashing forwards move to get the team another 5 points. This time however Nathan Powell was unable to make the conversion, leaving the score at 19-7 at half time.
An injury to Colts debutant Lucas Halford-Dunn led to the early introduction to another player having his first run out for the Colts, Thomas Whittington, who took the 13 shirt.
The second half started with more kick tennis as both teams fought to gain territory. It was the Colts that struck first with Nathan Powell finishing up a backs move to score wide , with him again scoring the conversion taking the score to 26-7.
OE's responded quickly with their big centres and smashed through the Colts defence to get the score ticking over again, score 26-12.
Luca Twyman then again collected a fumbled high ball by OE's and glided under the posts. Score now 31 - 12.
The Colts pack then produced some outstanding defensive tackles , with special mention going to Joshua Friend and Marcus Chudleigh . Nathan Powell picked up a ball secured by the forwards on the Colts own 22 and then simply glided through the opposition to score the Colts next try. Sadly this was Nathans last act of the match as then suffered a dislocated shoulder and had to be treated in A&E with score at 38-12.
Thinking the match was won, the Colts switched off and OE's turned on the pressure running in 3 unanswered try's in the final 8 mins. Luckily for the Colts it wasn't quite enough, final score 38 - 29.
Huge team performance form the Colts to get to the result.
