D.A.S.H Colts v Deal and Betteshanger RFC Colts

The Lions were away at Ash rugby club for this friendly fixture. It was always going to be a tough first game of the season with a number of players returning from injury and from extended breaks.
The first 30 mins were a typical forwards game, lots of big carries by both teams and neither side being able to get a hold of the game. Handling errors a plenty gave the pack plenty of opportunity to practice their scrums.
The Lions pack edged the contested with a slightly stronger pack, however the D.A.S.H 9 was an ever present threat and a real thorn in the Lions side.
The first score came from Archie Grove who was having his first match at 9. He capitalised on a messy D.A.S.H scrum and hacked the ball through to the try area diving on the ball just before his opposition.
The second score for the Lions also came from Archie Grove who chased a Finley Wilson clearance and again showed outstanding footballing skills to dribble the ball under the posts.
D.A.S.H came straight back at the Lions and a well worked lineout, driving maul and pass out to their 10 Luke Robinson resulted in a try for D.A.S.H. Luke Robinson also made the conversion taking the half time score to 7 - 10.
The Lions managed to turn the screw a little more in the second half, with Nathan Powell collecting a cross field kick from his brother Sebastian Powell to cut through the opposition defence and score under the posts, with Finley Wilson scoring the conversion.
There was also a fantastic solo effort from Luca Twyman, who showed superb footwork to slice apart the defence to score under the posts. This time, Nathan Powell scored the conversion.
Final score was 7 - 31 to the Lions. The score does not reflect how hard D.A.S.H made the game!
Player of the match was split between Archie Grove and Nathan Powell.
