For the final round of the U12's Kent Waterfall Tournament @ Canterbury last Sunday the Deal and Betteshanger boys were seeded in the Plate group.

This group consisted of Tumbridge Wells Saracens, Medway and Old Colfs, all very good teams.

Our first match was against Tumbridge Wells Saracens. We have played this team several times before and it has always ended up a draw. This Saracens team were very well drilled and fierce in defence. However, they weren't strong enough for our boys who managed to put them down 2 tries to nill. The try scorers in this match were Nick Proctor and William Price. Nick's try was a shining example of what a player with pace and the ability to change direction at speed can do to a defence. Will's try was an example of a human battering ram.
Our second match was a far more spikey affair, against Medway. Both teams were hungry for the victory and were not giving any quarter in any part of the field. This was a purely physical battle won by our boys 2 tries to 1. Our try scorers were Archie Seward , who like William Price in the previous match, simply bowled over the defence with his power. Our second try of this match was scored by Charlie Holdroyd , who completed a team move by putting the ball down in the corner, after the perfect offload from Finley Wilson.

Our final match of the group was against Old Colfs. These boys were up for the challenge of Our U12 Lions and were our most difficult match of the day. Again, no quarter was given by either team in what became a spikey match, with several players from each team being sin binned. Our boys took a collective breath and stepped up a gear. They won this game 1 try to 0, with Archie Seward again showing his power to get over the line.

Special mentions must go to Nathan Powell for an amazing charge down and Hector Hodgkinson for four brilliantly intercepted passes. Also, a mention for our team captain Sebastian Powell , who was unable to play due to injury and Tom Atkinson, also injured, for coming along and cheering on their team.
