After more than 12 years of outstanding service across two separate stints as Club Treasurer she has stepped away from her duties.
To simply describe Karen as “Treasurer” would never truly reflect what she has meant to the club.
Over the years, Karen became one of the heartbeat figures of D&B RFC, the steady hand behind the scenes who helped keep the club moving forward through countless seasons, challenges, events, tours, meetings, and matchdays. From finances and memberships, to sponsorship, compliance, administration and day-to-day organisation, Karen was always there quietly holding everything together while keeping the rest of us firmly in check when needed!
Her dedication, loyalty, honesty, and tireless work ethic have left a lasting mark on the club, and it is no exaggeration to say she leaves behind a huge chasm that will be incredibly difficult to fill.
While we are all sad to see Karen step away from her official role, we are equally delighted that she and Gareth can now enjoy a very well-earned retirement together, making memories in their beloved camper, spending time with their wonderful family, and finally getting the opportunity to slow the pace a little after giving so much to the club for so long.
Karen, thank you for everything you have done for the club, its players, volunteers, members and wider rugby family. Your contribution has been immense, and Deal & Betteshanger RFC is a far better place because of you.
Please don’t be a stranger… and we’ll hopefully still see you both at the bar from time to time so that we can get you a drink ?
With enormous gratitude and best wishes from everyone at the club.
