Thanet kicked off. The Lions were able to gather the ball easily and quickly fed the ball to Nye on the wing. He ran from deep in his own half and scored a great solo try in the corner. Undeterred Thanet immediately replied with a try of their own in the corner. Both tries were unconverted.

Nye was able to score his second try after Thanet gave away penalty in their on 22. The score 10 - 5. Nye's game ended prematurely soon after when he and a Thanet player had to be substituted due to injury.

Lions scored their third try after a nice passage of play and nice passing along the back. Kurt King still had a lot of work to do to score the Lions 3rd try. Thanet were able to reply with their second try using their forwards effectively after Lions conceded another penalty in their own half. The score was 15 - 10 to the Lions at the end of the entertaining first half.

At the start of the second half, the Lions forward pressure and good handling in the backs allowed Kurt King to score his second try. Thanet pressurised the defences try line. The ball was spilled and Kurt King was able to chase his kick up the field and score his third try. After a successful conversion, the score was now 27 - 10

Thanet then capitalised on a penalty which they took quickly to pull a try back. After further sustained pressure, Thanet were able to score another try bringing the score to 27 - 20 with only minutes to go. A tired Lions could not hold on and Thanet were able to score their final try under the posts. The final whistle blew concluded the match
