A Lively game of Rugby
The Lions hosted Tonbridge-Juddians 3rd XV at the Drill Field on a good, dry day for rugby
The Visitors are top of the Premier 2 East League and after a good game at Tonbridge last month, there was the prospect of a lively game and thus it proved .
The Lions did well in the early exchanges and Henry Evans, playing at Wing-forward , weaved through the T-J defence to score a good try, which he convertsed .
The Lions pack continued to give good ball and then Alex Waldron dodged through the T-J defence to score another good try .
The Visitors recovered from the shock of the Lions assault and soon their experienced side started to score points . At half-time, the Lions led narrowly and the game went 'end to end ' as scores continued . The Lions pack led by Andy Sapsford, continued to do well in the set scrums but the line-outs were equal .
The strong T-J backs found some holes in the much-improved Lions defence and the game finally ended with both sides evenly matched .
This was a much better performance than the last game at Medway and the very young back line, this time strengthened by the return of Sammy Johnson, showed great potential for the future .
