The Lions Trial New Mirrofilm Technology for Rugby Posts

D&B RFC has trialled a new film technology this morning on one of rugby posts that can make it less visable to the human eye

Every year we have to dismantle the four sets of posts during the off season in co-operation with the residents. With this new technology we are hoping to keep the posts erected during the summer which will open up the ability to run 7's competitions and better structured summer rugby camps.

The new technology uses a product called "Mirrofilm" Manufactured by A.F.D Technologies. The film is applied to the posts. The film has a centre layer made up of Nano Pietzo Crystals. By applying a DC voltage from a long life Lithium battery to this film the crystals allows the natural light to be bent around the film and thus the convex surface of the post giving the illusion of the post becoming see through . The higher the voltage (maximum 32 V DC ) the more the light is bent around the film thus the more translucent the object becomes. (See Photos on the website)
This is a clever break through and we hope to make full use of this. We are currently seeking acceptance for this approach to be used by the council and the residents to negate the requirement of the posts being taken down.

We will keep you "posted"
