Jo White... with Regret and Sadness

Words sometimes seem inadequate;the news that Jo, a beautiful and active mother, as well as wife, passed away just before Christmas,is one of them.

The feeling of deep sadness has rippled through the whole club, with disbelief as the abiding motif, not least for those who knew Jo as a friend and not just a fellow member, supporting mother and cheerful helper at functions.

The family atmosphere we have is something of which we are justly proud; at a time like this, such a loss feels personal to us all. John and Jo have been part of Deal rugby since well before the amalgamation with Deal Wanderers, John playing for the Betteshanger 1st team before going on to coach Minis and Juniors at the Drill Field.

There was no harking back to the past; it was Deal and Betts Lions to the core and proud of their boys when they donned the shirt. Our hearts go out to John and the boys, Max 16 and Ollie just 12. The loss they have suffered is immense. It’s hard to think of what the club can do to soften that, but all we can say is we are there if you need anything and always will be.

With deepest condolences,

Every member of Deal, Betteshanger & Walmer Rugby Sports & Social Club
