Season Review

The Head Coach gave a break down of stats that confirmed a very successful season. He highlighted areas which were particularly pleasing, such as our home games record.

Improvements

He then went on to outline areas that he considers we need to address in order to improve :

  • Training Tuesday - There are too many 1st team who do not train on a Tuesday. There is a hardcore of about eight 1st team players who train regularly who are carrying the remainder.

  • Mindset with regard to bonus points - It was pointed out that winning a game is no longer enough. It was pointed out how other teams, not as successful as us, were in front, or just behind, due to bonus points gained.

  • Mindset with regard to away games - It was pointed out that there were at least two games where we under achieved. This ultimately cost us dearly.

  • Attitude to running - There is little doubt that we are not putting in the hard yards at the right time. We are still doing pyramid runs in late November, as we were not at the correct aerobic level. Because there are players not there on a Tuesday, this impacts on our ability to sustain a good tempo at training and in games.

The Way Forward :

The Head Coach then made a number of suggestions, shown below, and asked for the players to, ' Buy In ', in order to improve in time for what is going to be a tough season :

1. The stated aim is a top 2 finish.

2. Running will commence on a Thursday in June. Probably on the green by the band stand. In conjunction with running, clinics will be held dealing with a different skill set each week. Details will be published on the club site and Alison will put out reminders.

All 1st Team squad players are expected to attend the above.

Other topics will be covered once training starts.
All players voted to,' Buy In ', and therefore this will now be the basis of how we will operate.
